Red worms (Eisenia fetida), commonly known as Red Wigglers, are the most versatile feeder and recycler worms on the market! Smaller and thinner than Canadian or European worms, they are an ideal prey size for young reptiles, small amphibians, and large microfauna. Besides being an excellent food source, they are true composting champions: introduced directly into a bioactive terrarium, they work on the surface to break down organic matter and continuously enrich the soil.

Usage (Feeding & Bioactive)

1️⃣ For feeding: Take out the required number of worms. Gently rinse with clean water to remove the breeding substrate before offering them with tweezers or in a suitable dish.

2️⃣ For soil seeding: Place the worms directly on the substrate of your bioactive terrarium, ideally under a good layer of dead leaves or near a moist area. They will burrow into the soil within minutes to start their cleaning work.

Tips & Parameters

🌡️ Ideal storage — Keep at room temperature (between 15°C and 25°C) in their original substrate kept slightly moist. They tolerate standard residential temperatures very well.

❄️ Extended storage — Unlike other worms, Red Wigglers prefer to stay at room temperature to remain active, but they can be refrigerated (between 6°C and 10°C) to slow their metabolism if necessary.

⚠️ Absolutely avoid — Never expose to extreme heat or direct freezing. Ensure their substrate remains always moist (like a wrung-out sponge), but never waterlogged.
