The Trichoniscus sp. Dwarf Purple are micro woodlice highly valued in bioactive terrariums for their efficiency and discretion. They mainly work in the substrate and under the leaf litter, where they help break down organic waste (food scraps, dead leaves, small molds) and keep the soil cleaner and more stable.
They reproduce quickly when humidity and food are available, making them an excellent option for establishing a sustainable microfauna in tropical and semi-tropical terrariums.

Quantity: 20
Highlights
- Excellent “cleanup crew”: consumes waste, plant debris, and micro-molds
- Micro size: perfect for small terrariums and stress-sensitive species
- Mostly stays in the substrate (discreet cleaning team)
- Highly prolific if humidity and food are adequate
- Helps stabilize the bioactive substrate in the long term
Tips & Parameters
- Humidity: high (they perform better with a substrate that is always slightly moist).
- Tip: maintain a gradient (a humid zone + a drier zone).
- Temperature: around 20–26°C (tolerant, but faster reproduction under stable conditions).
- Food:
- continuous leaf litter (base)
- supplements: vegetable pieces, La Swamp woodlouse food, etc. (in small amounts)
- Calcium: always have a source available (cuttlefish bone, calcium, well-dried eggshells, etc.)
- Warning: like all microfauna, avoid excess wet food. If you want a more “visible” microfauna, combine with a larger woodlouse species.
