Cubaris Red Panda (10+)

Cubaris “Red Panda” are exceptionally beautiful isopods, highly sought after in bioactive terrariums for their unique coloration pattern, which recalls the famous red panda. Sporting a superb reddish to orange hue contrasted with black or dark bands, they add a refined visual touch to display enclosures. In addition to their high-end appearance, they actively help clean the terrarium by consuming organic debris (dead leaves, decomposing wood, food scraps) and help keep the substrate cleaner and more stable.

They are mainly found beneath hides, cork bark, and dense leaf litter. They perform very well in tropical or semi-tropical terrariums that maintain good humidity, while also providing a drier area to create a perfect gradient.

Care tips & parameters

• Humidity: moderate to high (a humid area is essential, covering approximately half of the enclosure with sphagnum moss, while a drier area remains essential). Tip: maintain a clear gradient to allow them to regulate their hydration.

• Temperature: approximately 22–27°C (a stable, warm temperature supports colony health and regular reproduction).

• Food:

  • Dead leaf litter and well-decomposed white wood, available at all times (base diet)

  • Supplements: La Swamp isopod food, small pieces of vegetables, protein supplements (in small quantities)

• Calcium: always provide an available source (cuttlebone, La Swamp calcium, thoroughly dried eggshells, etc.) to support shell formation.

• Warning: avoid waterlogged substrate and overfeeding to prevent mold or mite infestations. Good ventilation combined with moderate feeding helps maintain a perfectly healthy colony.
