Cubaris Glacier (15+)

Cubaris “Glacier” are exceptional isopods, particularly sought after in bioactive terrariums for their elegance and immaculate appearance. With their highly distinctive white to pearlescent coloration, they provide striking visual contrast in display enclosures while also playing a key role in the ecosystem. They actively help clean the terrarium by consuming organic debris (dead leaves, decomposing wood, food scraps) and contribute to maintaining a clean, healthy, and balanced substrate.

These magnificent isopods enjoy shaded areas, dense leaf litter, and moss. They thrive especially well in tropical or semi-tropical terrariums offering high humidity and a good moisture gradient.

Care & parameters

• Humidity: moderate to high. Keep approximately 60 to 70% of the substrate surface slightly moist (sphagnum area) while maintaining a drier area to provide a true moisture gradient.

• Temperature: ideally between 22°C and 26°C to promote healthy development and stable reproduction.

• Food:

  • Dead leaf litter and decomposed white wood offered freely (the essential foundation of their diet)

  • Supplements: La Swamp specialized isopod food, fresh vegetables cut into thin slices, and protein (powders/dry food) occasionally

• Calcium: a constant source of available calcium (cuttlebone, La Swamp calcium, or crushed eggshells) is essential for hardening their exoskeleton during molts.

• Warning: ensure adequate ventilation to prevent stagnant air, avoid waterlogged substrate, and do not overfeed to prevent mold or mite growth.
