The Armadillidium paraccea are small, sturdy woodlice, highly valued in bioactive terrariums. They help with terrarium cleaning by consuming organic debris (dead leaves, decaying wood, leftover food) and assist in maintaining a healthier and more stable substrate.
Like many Armadillidium species, they prefer a good humidity gradient and abundant leaf litter. They are an excellent choice if you want an effective microfauna that is relatively easy to maintain and more “visible” than micro-species.

Quantity: 10
Highlights
- Species sturdy and tolerant
- Good “cleanup crew”: consumes plant debris and decomposing matter
- More visible than micro-woodlice, while still small in size
- Helps stabilize the bioactive substrate in the long term
- Can roll into a ball (typical Armadillidium behavior)
Tips & Parameters
-
Humidity: moderate (they like a humid area but need a drier zone to perform well).
- Tip: maintain a gradient (a humid zone + a drier zone).
- Temperature: around 18–26°C (very tolerant).
-
Food:
- continuous leaf litter (base)
- supplements: vegetable pieces, La Swamp woodlouse food, etc. (in small amounts)
- Calcium: always have a source available (cuttlefish bone, calcium, well-dried eggshells, etc.)
- Warning: avoid continuously soggy substrate (risk of stress/mortality). Feed in small amounts to limit mold growth.
